Today was our second prenatal appointment and the big news is that we got to hear the heart beat!! It was a very strong "whoosh whoosh" at 150 bpm. Even though we'd already had an ultrasound, today felt more official in some way. Because of my tipped uterus, and being only 8 weeks pregnant at the time, the baby was just a blob on the ultrasound screen. Hearing the heart beat made it seem like a real little person- with its own heart beat separate from mine. Pretty amazing!
Random funny piece of information: my midwife/OB practice is located in the Playboy Enterprises corporate headquarters. I find this a little ironic. A magazine devoted to making men want sex and an office devoted to women dealing with the result of sex- all just 2 floors apart.
