Last year Landon the Lobster charmed the Chicago law students and this year a Landondragon roamed the halls of a BigLaw firm.
The firm hosted its Halloween Party yesterday. We were given pumpkins filled with candy and toys, and children of attorneys and staff bedecked in a variety of adorable costumes trick-or-treated along the offices. It was lots of fun and Landon was a big hit. It didn't take him long to figure out that picking a crinkly wrapped object out of a pumpkin elicited claps and praise from the crowd around him- by the third office he would dig right in, pull out something shiny, and look up with a big smile for his fans. Somewhere along the way he developed a deep love of lollipops- you take that stick out of his mouth at your own peril.
Last night we dressed the dogs in their costumes. Do you think they look happy or embarrassed?
I'm gonna guess embarrassed, but by the end I swear Tex was wearing his bumble bee wings with pride and I know Rosie felt as beautiful as she looked!
This morning was Landon's daycare Halloween party. He switched up his trick-or-treating strategy, this time picking a piece of candy out of one of the buckets in front of each classroom, carrying it to the next classroom and dropping it in their bucket, and then repeating the process all the way down the hallway. He was redistributing the candy wealth, a sugar socialist if you will. At the end he had a single lollipop and plopped right down next to his classroom door looking content.
And then tonight, in the grand finale, we did a little trick-or-treating around our cul-de-sac. Landon made it to three houses before sticking a lollipop in his mouth and standing still in the middle of the street. The little dragon was promptly bathed, snuggled, and put in bed- he was asleep before I even closed the door to his room.
Happy Halloween from us both!
Yup. This rivals the lobster. Absolutely stinking ADORABLE. Thanks for posting these - even though I don't know you guys, I've been following your blog for so long now that I actually logged on tonight thinking, "I wonder what Landon was for Hallowe'en?" Silly, I know... :)
ReplyDeleteAdorable!
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks!
ReplyDeletecute as a button!
ReplyDeleteI love the dragon! sooo cute. so he got a nice sugar high? and it's fun to see pictures of you too.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great costume--how cute is he?????? Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat is so adorable. Halloween was so much more fun this year now that they can kind of participate. Bear was also in love with the suckers. He kept running over to our candy basket by the door and stealing out all the dum dums.
ReplyDeleteHe's so cute!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love the costume!
ReplyDeleteIs it too late to submit another question to your Q&A? I was wondering, how is your cat adjusting to the new dogs and mobile-Landon?
Absolutely priceless! He'll be breaking daycare hearts before long, mark my words...
ReplyDeleteVery cute! A kid at K's daycare had the same dragon costume. And, like Landon, K found the lollipops irrestistible. (Not that he actually ate one, but he chewed on the wrapper.)
ReplyDeleteI have another Q&A question for you too, building on our blog-conversation of the other day. How and when did you let people at your firm know about your availability and family commitments? Did you sit down and have a conversation with the partner(s) you work for?
As another reader has stated, I too feel as if I know you in the "real" world and love seeing how Landon is growing up. These photos are so wonderful and thank you for sharing your private life with us, these strangers in cyberspace. I don't recall how I began reading your blog. It was definitley while your were still pregnant. But with every post your write, you've a captured reader in me. The mundane is interesting, LL. And here I am, a well-seasoned mother of three, who enjoys your version of motherhood.
ReplyDeleteHey - I have a question too, though I missed question day. Does your firm know about the blog? Does anyone there read it? If not, do you worry someone might stumble on it and find it or do you just generally keep yourself to topics that you consider would be non-offensive to them?
ReplyDeleteDragon costumes were all the rage for the toddler set this year, I'm thinking! I saw about five of them last night on kids from 6-24 months. Landon is so adorable that *I* want to squeeze him, and I'm notoriously anti-baby. Totally going to be a heartbreaker, isn't he? ;)
ReplyDeleteHe is so darn cute!! We didnt have any Dragons in our neighborhood. Lots of pirates and such.
ReplyDeleteLandon made a great dragon! I think the sugar socialism is hilarious. Great pictures - I love how he is engaged with the camera and willing to pose so well.
ReplyDeleteOh my I love your shoes in the work photo!! Perfection! I have shoe envy now. ;)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the dragon costume, that's great!! The dogs definitely look embarassed, though. I'm impressed they kept them on. My lab would have eaten it, as she does my shoes.
ReplyDeleteSo cute!! I love that last picture of the two of you!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! That really is a fantastic costume.
ReplyDeleteSumo likes lollipops, too. When he was trick-or-treating (while riding in his wagon), he apparently partially unwrapped one and was devouring it. But then he lost interest. By the time we got home he had put it back into the bucket with all the other candy which made everything rather sticky and gross. But hey - I'm not picky! I totally ate his stuff, anyway!
