King Of His Castle

Because I can't let the weekend begin with that depressing post at the top of the page, I offer a picture trio of Landon sitting on his throne (or, the car seat that still hasn't been installed in JP's car). Every time I see his picture on my laptop desktop in class I get the biggest smile on my face. The feeling of joy that fills me when I see him is why I still want more children despite this rather difficult first seven months of motherhood.

Hell, I kind of want one now. When I expressed that to JP last night he looked at me like I was completely insane. And given the fact that I'm moving across the country, taking a bar exam, and starting a new job in the next few months, my husband is entering grad school, and my first baby still doesn't sleep, ever, I suppose I am. The maternal urge knows no reason.

  1. With a face like that I completely understand. I am having some serious baby fever recently too.

  2. aw... love the outfit. i hear ya on baby urges. the other day i said to d, wouldn't it be nice to make a baby now? he said yes, but probably only because he knows we won't.

  3. Well, wouldn't it be better to have one now, so that the amount of *time* you spend with the hard parts is shorter? Like, once Landon starts sleeping through the night, won't having an infant all over again be that much harder? ;)

  4. awww....he is so cute LL!!! I showed my dad his picture (since he is up here "taking care" of us....even though he got a stomach virus and has been sick all week!) and his comment was "wow, he looks just like LL!!" Such a cutie!

  5. I'm sorry your little one has been having such a hard time with his ears . . . . hang in there!

Don't worry - my kid doesn't sleep through the night either. I feel your pain! I think a lot of people have an unrealistic expectation that babies should sleep through the night . . . I mean, some do, but some don't. Unfortunately, that's just how it is . . . it's not like you can MAKE them do it. Nor is it somehow demonstrative that you're doing something "wrong" when your kid doesn't do it. Some sleep, some don't.

In the mean time, I just wander around (like you) in a sleep-deprived coma! Hooray for sugar and caffeine!

  6. I totally understand you. My kid did not sleep through the night and I was dying for another too. Somehow, fate caused me to become knocked up and I have two now. The timing could have been better, but I could not imagine not having had her. Now, I have baby fever again, but this time I know it will be best to wait!

  8. Amen sister! I look at Cooper's cheeks and hear his giggle when Gavin plays with him and I feel my ovaries scream, "one more! one more NOW!"
I think Justin can actually hear the ovarian screaming and usually makes himself scarce for a day or two. ;)
And how CUTE is that King Rex outfit (and how redundant am I? oy).
    Hope you get some sleep!!!!

  9. oh, and how well does Landon nap during the day? When my kids are overtired from not napping (or not napping well), I can bet on being up half the night. But if they get decent naps, then we're usually good...no 3am visits from Gavin, and no Cooper shrieking at whatever hours he decides.
Or you can just threaten Landon that you're going to FedEx him to me so that I can teach him to sleep. ;) When my cousin said that to her son, he started sleeping better.

  10. Oh, he is adorable!

It's always the cutest ones that don't sleep.

    Like mine, for instance.

  12. That third pic is absolutely precious!!! I remember those times of wanting another. They say it takes about a year for your hormones to go back down after pregnancy. ;) We still want a total of three, but keep coming up with reasons why not, the first of which was cost, the second of which was the difficulty of pregnancy and the third of which was time. But I guess you can always come up with money and make time and get over discomfort so why not have another, right? Especially when they are so precious and you and I both have beautiful boys!

  14. He is so cute. And you are not crazy for wanting another child, even now. In fact, from experience, I can say that you should jump on those feelings when you can. Our first three are only 23 months apart in age (one in 2001, 2002, 2003) and while it was crazy for a while, it is good now. They all play together! Of course, we didn't have nearly as many things going as you do. Anyway, your son is adorable and I can completely relate to your maternal feeings.
