Graduated!

Yay Daddy!

JP graduated! I'd like to be able to say that I was overwhelmed with pride and happiness as he walked across the stage, but in truth I was exhausted and distracted after 3 hours of being 37-weeks pregnant and keeping a nearly 3-year-old entertained, in his seat, and, by the bitter end (45 mins after his bedtime), just anything that was not yelling.

It was a loooong day. It started at work with a firm-wide meeting at 8:30 a.m., went home early as I made JP a graduation cake from scratch (Landon was sous chef and darn proud of it), continued with an early graduation dinner at Moonshine, and ended, slowly, with 3.5 hours at Gregory Gym for the graduation ceremony. Poor Landon. He started out so good, and he so excited about his daddy's grabadation, but it was just too long.

My in-laws are not particularly hands-on, so I did 100% of the chasing Landon up the aisle, walking him out to the breezeway for a break, and picking him up over and over again. My back is killing me and I have elephantitis of the ankles. But I did NOT go into labor, I am officially full-term, and JP has his MBA, so really things are fantastic. And even if I couldn't savor the moment at the actual graduation, I am incredibly proud of my husband -- proud of us both really, for supporting each other physically, emotionally, and financially through two graduate programs.

But I'm still really glad that our next graduation will be Landon's high school ceremony and that's a good 16 years away.

  3. Congrats! And that's a long day for some of us grown-ups, so WTG Lan-man. BTW don't forget the ever-important preschool graduation, kindergarten graduation, and 5th and/or 8th grade graduations. ;)
You look absolutely fabulous, too, better than I looked at only 32 weeks. :)

Congrats to JP! I'm walking in about 3 weeks for an MBA from Chicago so I know both the pride and the financial pain you are feeling.

The picture of the 3.9 of you is really really awesome :)

Actually, make that all 3 of you ... I think the Lanman did great, too. Although I do feel for Mama. You all have much to be proud of.

    Have a great weekend!

  8. hi LL! congratulations. so happy you were _all_ able to make it to graduation :)

i've been wondering how Landon responded to the ceremony. i wasn't there, but it seemed like everyone was twittering, texting, or status updating that the ceremony was way too long--and that was coming from the adults in the room who were actually in the program!

  10. Was thinking exactly what jwg said. I complain about my MIL sometimes, but she is first off her chair to walk the kid around. Can't WAIT for the post that you're in labor!

  11. Congrats! I'm a lurker, but I have to come out to congratulate you on your family milestones. I sometimes feel like we live parallel lives. I'm a fairly new lawyer with a toddler (boy), my husband graduated from B-School on Friday, and I'm due with #2 (girl) in the beginning of July. I think you enjoy your work more than I do, but otherwise I often feel you took the words right out of my mouth! Thanks for this blog. It's fabulous.

  13. I am horrible at predicting dates - but I'm going to predict the name as Avery. Not sure why, but I've had Avery in my head ever since your nameless post - I think it fits your requirements, and it's a sweet name (IMO).
