I mean, sure, I didn't love it that I wasn't contributing to the family as much pre- or during law school, and I'm sure my husband may have felt a twinge of jealousy or had a moment where he thought "damn, I wish I made more" when I got my post-LS job and instantaneously (and for the first time in 10 years of being together) made a decent amount more than he does. But we have BILLS to pay. Rent and student loans (lots of 'em) and saving for a house and kids. He does not have time to be UPSET that I got a high(ish) paying job. I make more than my husband. It doesn't bother him. I've asked, numerous times, mainly because he grew up in a very traditional family where dad worked, mom stayed home (and home-schooled he and his brother). He said he married me because he knew that I would never be able to stay home; I had too much drive and a need for independence. He also said that it is awesome that I do make more, because he isn't shouldered with the burden of finding a way to support a family. So instead of experiencing some sort of depressed-manpanic, it turns out he is happier, less stressed, . . . kderollhttp://kderoll.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552008288188142238.post-24603331340029762112013-05-31T08:50:46.881-05:002013-05-31T08:50:46.881-05:00Dying of laughter over your dismantling of the man...Dying of laughter over your dismantling of the manpanic. I, too, cannot even imagine being married to someone who would find it devastating that I earned more money than he did (which is good, since that's going to start happening in August until/unless the husband gets a new job).
